*Your date of birth as mentioned in Secondary Education Board/University certificate will be only assumed valid.

  • In such case where a student has appeared in class 12th exam in the year 2016, didn’t pass in 2016, but passed in 2017, is not permitted to appear in JEE Main 2018.

**Latest Changes Made By MHRD, Govt of India

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has made few changes in JEE Main pattern last year and according to that:

  • No weightage of class 12th marks will be given while calculating ranks of candidates in JEE Main exam.
  • Admission toNITs/IIITs/other CFTIs will be solely based on JEE Main score, whereas for admission to IITs, it is essential to qualify JEE Advanced 2018.
  • Candidates who have achieved minimum 75% marks in class 12th exam or are in the top 20 percentile in the class 12th exam organized by their respective board are only eligible to apply.

JEE -Number of Attempts

Candidates can appear in JEE Main maximum 3 times. State of Nagaland, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh have been introduced in the JEE Main system from 2014. Previously, these states used to admit students based on state level entrance test. Age limit and number of attempts for candidates belonging to aforesaid states will be as per their past practice only.

Only after ensuring all above criteria candidates should go to apply for JEE Main 2019. Candidates who are found ineligible at any stage of the selection procedure, their candidature will be cancelled at the same time. Therefore, all information furnished by you in the application form must be genuine and best of your knowledge.

PERCENTILE CALCULATION OF MARKS IN CLASS 12TH/QUALIFYING EXAMINATION

As you know well that for getting admission into IITs/NITs/IIITs/Other CFTIs candidates have to score minimum 75% marks (65% for SC?ST) in the qualifying exam or they should be in top 20 percentile in class 12th exam organized by respective boards. There are a number of students confused while calculating the top 20 percentile so, here is the solution.

  • Please keep in your mind that percentage of marks and percentile are completely different from each other;
  • Percentage is basically a number out of 100.
  • Percentile Score of a candidate in a Board will depend upon how many candidates have achieved below that candidate in his/her respective board examination.

You can calculate your percentile in the following way:

100 X Number of candidates in the ‘group’ with aggregate marks less than the candidate/Total number of the candidates in the ’group’

Let us understand this through an example:

The authority will consider five subjects while making the calculation of percentile of qualifying examination marks for paper 1of JEE (Main) and they are as follows:

  1. Language;
  2. Physics;
  3. Mathematics;
  4. Any one from Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject;
  5. Any other subject;

If you have appeared in the six subjects in your qualifying exam then subject with better marks (either fifth or sixth) will be considered;

In case you are appearing in Paper 2 of JEE Main then the following subjects would be considered for the percentile calculation:

  • Mathematics;
  • Other four subjects;

Important Points:

  • If a candidate has appeared in the qualifying exam in 2018, but reappeared in 2019, the best of the two performances will be assumed in this case;
  • If your board is providing you letter grades then you’ll have to obtain a related certificate specifying the equivalent percentage and you have to submit it at the time of acceptance of allocated seats;
  • If the board provides you aggregate marks by considering the both Class XI as well as XII then your class XII performance will be considered only. The case is similar to the board that follows a semester system, your performance in final two semesters would be considered;
  • In case the board does not provide you to the marks scored in the qualifying exam, then aggregate marks as provided by the board would be considered;
